The Southeast Europe Centre for Migration and Digital Demography is an independent research initiative dedicated to advancing the understanding of migration, demographic change and population dynamics across Southeast Europe and the wider European context.

The Centre combines classical demographic methods with innovative approaches based on Big Data, digital demography, artificial intelligence and computational social science. Its research integrates official statistics with digital data sources to provide timely and evidence-based analyses of migration processes, labour mobility, population ageing, depopulation, demographic resilience and regional development.

The Centre conducts interdisciplinary research, develops demographic projections and migration scenarios, prepares policy analyses, and provides scientific expertise for public institutions, international organisations, research projects and private-sector stakeholders. Particular attention is devoted to the application of digital data for demographic forecasting, migration monitoring and public policy evaluation.

Research activities cover Croatia, Southeast Europe and their demographic and migration links with the rest of Europe. The Centre also promotes methodological innovation in migration research through the use of digital traces, online platforms and other emerging data sources, contributing to the development of digital demography as a scientific field.

The Centre is committed to scientific excellence, methodological transparency and evidence-based policy, fostering cooperation between academia, public institutions and international partners.
